Now Introducing Wild Alpaca Wool!

The Wild Alpaca Way, a beloved family-run
experience at Malin Head, is expanding its offering with an exciting new
venture: Wild Alpaca Wool. This innovative addition will officially launch on
April 9th, 2025 at 5 PM at The Seaview Tavern, Malin Head, Inishowen
with a special presentation followed by light refreshments and finger food.
A Natural Evolution of an Eco-Friendly Business
Since its launch in 2019, The Wild Alpaca Way has captivated visitors by
offering guided alpaca walks along breathtaking coastal trails in Ireland’s most
northerly region. What started as a dream of entrepreneurial farmer John
McGonagle has quickly become a must-visit attraction, blending sustainable
tourism with the rugged beauty of Inishowen.
Now, John is taking another step forward in farm diversification by launching
Wild Alpaca Wool. Every year, his alpacas produce beautiful, soft wool—but
until now, it remained largely unused. Recognising the value of this natural
resource, John and his dedicated team have worked tirelessly to transform it into
something truly special for visitors to cherish.

Sustainability at Its Core

Wild Alpaca Wool aligns with John’s deep respect for the land and his animals.
The wool, sourced directly from his well-cared-for alpacas, is a testament to the
farm’s commitment to sustainability and eco-friendly practices. With this new
venture, visitors will not only leave with unforgettable memories but also a
tangible piece of their experience—crafted from the very alpacas that
accompanied them on their journey.
As seen on RTÉ’s Nationwide, The Wild Alpaca Way continues to gain
recognition for its innovative approach to tourism and sustainability. The
feature concludes with a glimpse into the future of wool production at the
farm—an exciting new chapter in this evolving story. See the new products for
yourself, share the love and wear the best of alpaca wool blended with Blue
Faced Leicester wool. The magic mix has excited the knitting enthusiasts
eagerly awaiting “Frank, getting the wool outa the bag”
